What Does The Bible Say About Not Speaking To Someone?

The ability to communicate is one of the most important tools given to humanity. The things that come out of our mouths have the power to bring forth life or bring about death; they have the ability to deliver blessings or curses. How are we, as Christians, supposed to act in situations if we don’t want to speak to someone? Do we communicate in a way that helps others grow, or do we speak in a way that hurts them? Is it Christlike to not speak to someone?

The Bible instructs Christians to avoid becoming easily angered, but ignoring others is not a God-given virtue. We must carefully listen before responding. The second commandment that Christ gave was to love your neighbor as yourself. We should forgive others and look past their sins when we love.

When we claim to love Christ and follow His commandments, we cannot absolve ourselves of the obligation he gave us to love others, including those who wrong us. Because our decisions and actions reveal what we value most in our hearts, our faith can be evaluated based on how we choose to live our lives. If we place a high priority on obeying the Lord’s commandments, then we will do everything in our power to lead a life that is acceptable in the Lord’s eyes.

There are temptations all around us, and when we find ourselves in a situation where we are tempted to neglect another person as a result of what they did, it’s important to remember that God instructed us to be gracious and to avoid readily giving in to anger. The Scripture in James 1:19 reminds us to be patient in our anger. However, let us be strong in the Lord and remember that if we love God, we should be submissive to His will. In Matthew 22:37-39, it states, “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” He instructed us to first love God and then love one another. In the Old Testament, the Lord communicated his will to his prophets through a series of commandments. These two broader commandments encompass all of those.

Love alone satisfies the requirements of the law, as explained in Romans 13:8. This kind of love has also been manifested when Christ gave His life on the cross as a sacrifice for each and every one of us. He made the decision to give His life for ours so that we would not have to suffer the consequences of our sins. Because of this, it is imperative that we love one another, particularly our neighbors, because when we love, we never act in an inappropriate manner. When we love, just like the Lord did, we are able to forgive those who have harmed us.
